As one of the required fiction group courses, this one also aims at truly familiarizing students with one of the major forms of literary creations that is nevertheless often rushed through in other literature courses due to the limitations of time. This one in particular is designed to broaden the scope of students’ worldview beyond just English literature and to draw attention to ingenious story-telling of an experimental and even avant-garde nature. Although only one novel of around 300 pages qualifying for this criterion will be chosen as the textbook, it is in effect posited also as a pre-text that will hopefully lead to further explorations of similar texts as well as of the fascinating worlds into which it allows us unique glimpses.
